It’s been a successful season for the Puaikura Football Club who on Friday last week walked away with the Rarotonga round cup Lotto Premiership for 2013.

The Puaikura premier mens team won the converted title after defeating Takuvaine last Friday by 8-0.

Puaikura coach and player Tuka Tisam says that he and the team are ecstatic about claiming the prestigious football title.

Tisam says the win is a first for the Puaikura club.

Puaikura claimed the title by winning nine matches and three draws throughout the season.

They have now qualified for the Oceania Preliminary Club competition to be held at a venue and date yet to be finalised by the Oceania Football Confederation.

The club has also won two other categories – the under 17 men’s championship and the under 14 boy’s division.

Club president Junior Areai, along with his executive committee, is grateful for the support the club has received throughout the 2013 football season.

“On behalf of the club we would like to say a big meitaki maata to our players for the great season, to our supporters for encouraging the players and our sponsors for the continued support for this year,” says Junior Areai.

The winning Puaikura premier men’s team was presented the round cup trophy after the final whistle was blown at the Takuvaine sports field.

In the senior women’s championship’s, Nikao Sokattak is currently sitting on 26 points with Tupapa Maraerenga close behind on 25 points.

Nikao will need to win their last game on Saturday to take out the round cup championship.

In the under 14 girl’s division Tupapa Maraerenga have won this category regardless of what the results will be in the weekend followed by Matavera in second place.

The popular newly introduced under 11 mixed has seen its first winner, Tupapa Maraerenga claim the title while Titikaveka and Matavera are sitting in second and third respectively.
