The weekend’s main Lotto Premiership men’s football game saw the much anticipated match between host Tupapa Maraerenga and competition leaders Puaikura end in a one all draw with both goals scored during the first half.

Tupapa’s sole goal came off the boot of Campbell Best within fifteen minutes of play much to the jubilation of club supporters.

However, the celebration was cut short when Puaikura’s Paavo Mustonen blasted a shot from the edge of the eighteen yard box and the goal keeper fumbled the ball which rolled in slowly.

In the second spell both teams tried to score the winner but couldn’t break the deadlock. Overall it was an exciting encounter which could have gone either way.

Saturday’s football contest between Nikao Sokattak Football Club and visiting Titikaveka Football Club saw Sokattak beat Titikaveka comfortably in the senior women’s championship by five goals to nil.

Sokattak’s speedster striker Teiti Tupuna proved too lethal blitzing past Titikaveka’s defenders to score Sokattak’s first goal in the twentieth minute of play with fellow striker Tepaeru Toka punting through their second goal before the half time break.

Sokattak’s Tepaeru Toka scored a hat trick during their match against Titikaveka to bring the final score of the match to five goals to nil.

In the junior divisions Nikao Sokattak claimed both the under 14 boys and girls matches, both teams winning over Titikaveka by one goal to nil.
