Thanks to Prime Foods, none of the place getters from last Saturday’s tournament at the Rarotonga Golf Club would have gone hungry this week.

Prime Foods provided some great food prizes for the second Prime Foods Golf Tournament.

Ninety players took to the course in this stableford competition, enjoying good golfing weather once again and the course was playing well thanks to green keeper Sonny Karati and his team.

The morning tee times were just about fully booked for a change and it was one of the morning players who shone on the day.

Katoa ‘Fotu’ Banaba had his best game for quite a while and, like all the top ten players, scored well.

‘Fotu’ had an 80 off the stick to finish with 45 points, just ahead of young Leo Roa who also had his best game with a 72 off the stick for 44 points.

Tania Karati was next with 43 points, on a count-back from Here Story, and Olly Silk who both finished with 43.

Karati’s 77 off the stick was also the best round from the ladies.

Karati well on for the family on the day, picking up yet another prize for the ladies’ longest drive.

Next in the running was young Memory Akama who is steadily improving her game and scored 41 points.

Rounding out the top ten were Alice Pilkinton Story, Charlie Numanga, Donnie Willis, and Archie Moana who all finished with 40 points.

James Herman picked up the prize for the men’s best round with a 72 off the stick, winning a 4-way count-back.

Thanks must go to Prime Foods for another wonderful competition and to Dan Forsythe who was present to hand out all the prizes.

This Easter weekend Telecom Cook Islands are the sponsors of a 36-hole tournament with the first round to be played on Saturday and the final round being played on Monday 9.

There are, once again, some really good prizes to be won so make sure you put your name down for both days.

There will be another large field for this one.

Remember, if your name is not down for a tee time, you can’t expect to just turn up and play.

Best of luck to all golfers – enjoy your long weekend on the course and at the club.
