In the second match of the Oceania Under 20 Women’s Championship Qualifiers, the New Zealand team proved too strong for the Cook Islands.

The Cooks created a number of goal scoring opportunities in the opening period and it took New Zealand 39 minutes to score their first goal through Elise Mamanu – who herself is a Cook Islander.

New Zealand added three more goals before half-time.

In the second half, one Cook Islands player was shown a yellow card for a bad tackle, and New Zealand went on to score four more goals to bring the final score to 8-0.

The team was due to play its third and final match against American Samoa yesterday at 2:30pm CIT.
