Northern Knights hit the beach

Beach cricket hit the shores of Arorangi last week when the visiting Northern Knights played a fun game of cricket with the staff of Edgewater Resort & Spa.

The team arrived on Rarotonga last week for a nine day spring training camp that also involved mingling with keen local junior cricketers and playing an historic cricket match on Friday against the Telecom Cook Islands national cricket squad at the Turangi Oval.

Back at the Edgewater, plenty of laughs and fun were had by all during the beach cricket game with the Edgewater staff supposedly emerging the winners of the friendly game.

A rematch is on the cards for 2012.

The Knights trip will be the first of a number of initiatives over the next 12 months designed to benefit Northern Districts Cricket, Edgewater Resort & Spa and Cook Islands Cricket.

Another key focus and growth opportunity of this partnership is to develop the Cook Islands as a sporting event destination in the near future.
