No date for CISNOC special general meeting

It could be December before a special general meeting of the Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee (CISNOC) is held.

The call for a meeting has come as CISNOC struggles with its finances, particularly in relation to sending Cook Islands athletes to international tournaments, and there has even been talk of forcing the entire executive board to resign.

CISNOC officials and Team Cook Islands members, including national sports federation representatives, discussed the scheduling of a special general meeting while in Noumea for the Pacific Games recently.

No date has been confirmed, although CISNOC administration manager Siniva Marsters says it is likely the meeting will take place in December.

That gives executive members time to prepare financial statements for the wider membership.

CISNOC secretary general Rosie Blake is also unavailable for a special general meeting until at least mid-October.

Blake is in Sri Lanka at present, taking part in the bidding process for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

She flew to Sri Lanka from New Caledonia via New Zealand earlier this month and will return to the Cook Islands on October 6.

The following day Blake travels from Rarotonga to Mangaia for the Manea Games.

She returns to Rarotonga on October 17.

Blakes trip to Sri Lanka is fully-funded by the Commonwealth Games organising committee, Marsters says.
