Nikao Sokattak won their second match against Avatiu in the Lotto Premier Men’s main match on Saturday and remains unbeaten in the round cup competition.

Sokattak opened their scoring tally with a shot from inside the penalty area by Dawn Tare within the first five minutes of the game.

Teariki Mateariki added a second goal when he timed his run to split open the Avatiu defence and neatly slot the ball past the keeper.

Despite being three goals down in the second half Avatiu managed to slot in two goals through their star striker Mana Mokoroa and was unfortunate not to score a third with 10 minutes of play remaining.

Although Sokattak were dominant for most of the match Avatiu had two scoring opportunities early in the game that could have found the back of the net if the strike was executed properly.

In the senior women’s match between Avatiu and Nikao, Avatiu dominated the first half by putting in four easy goals but Nikao surprised the Avatiu defence by placing the ball twice past their goal keeper on the half time whistle.

The match ended with four goals to two in favour of Avatiu.

In the other premier men’s matches Titikaveka disposed Takuvaine nine goals to four on Friday while Matavera won by default over Arorangi on Saturday due to fuel shortage.
