New strip for Eels club

Avatiu Eels rugby league club teams will be looking slick this weekend when they step out in their new strip sponsored by Vonnia’s.

The club’s under 16 and under 19 grade teams’ new bright blue and gold uniforms are sure to instil plenty of pride in the boys – and it’s all thanks to the Eels’ long time sponsor and support Vonnia’s.

Newly elected Avatiu Rugby League Association president Edith Nicholas says that the family owned and run company has been a long time supporter of sports in the village and that the company’s sponsorship of the under 16 and 19 grade gear is much appreciated.

“We are just so grateful for the endless support we receive from Vonnia’s who sponsor a lot of codes in our community including league,” says Nicholas.

Nicholas also acknowledges the ground work by the previous club executives who worked hard at raising funds and seeking sponsorship for new gear for the club’s various teams.

Also taking to the field in brand new gear today will be the reserve and under 13 grades while the premier grade will wait until next week to receive their new kit.
