Local triathlete Roland Neururer continues to dominate the local triathlon scene, including the weekly Thursday duathlon and Saturday triathlon races.
A core group of between 15 and 20 athletes have been taking up the weekly challenges with some great results seen.
This weekend’s triathlon at the Tikioki tri site will be the same two course options of a shorter 200m swim, 10km cycle and 2km run or the longer 400m swim, 20km cycle and 4km run.
Christmas Day and New Years Day fall on Saturdays this year and a recreational triathlon may be organised if there is interest.
According to the triathlon and duathlon calendar – duathlon racing will stop on Thursday December 23 for the Christmas and New Year break and continue again on Thursday January 13. But if there is interest – things could be changed to accommodate the islands hardy group of triathletes.
The triathlon season is still in a casual phase so anyone wanting to take up triathlon as a new hobby – this is the perfect time to do so.
Head to Nikao this Thursday for the weekly duathlon and to the Tikioki tri site on Saturday for the triathlon race.
