Local triathlete and swim coach Vanessa Palmer, known to many as ‘Nemo’ after the cartoon fish for her exceptional swimming skills, is impressed with the energy and ability of Rarotonga children who took part in her first school holiday swim lessons yesterday.

Palmer spent the better part of Monday morning helping form water confidence among her students as well as coaching them in proper techniques for freestyle and backstroke swimming.

“The kids are picking things up really quickly,” says the enthusiastic coach.

She is also impressed with the energy the kids, of varying swim abilities, put into the lessons.

The lessons continue on Wednesday and Friday and again next week Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

All lessons start at 10am. Palmer says that spaces have been filling in very quickly so if you are thinking of getting your kids water confident and swimming like Nemo – give Palmer a call on 58041.

Certificates will be presented to the kids at the end of the programme, which has been sponsored by Cook Islands News.
