Muri takes sting out of Red Backs

The Arorangi Red Backs cricket team’s unbeaten run has come to an end after going down heavily to Muri last weekend.

Batting first Muri struggled on the Arorangi wicket limping to 98 runs.

It was all but a foregone conclusion that the Red Backs would take the win until Muri skipper Bobby Hunter (4 wickets for 18 runs) took the ball and saw Arorangi all out for 63.

Matavera took a heavy defeat against Turangi at the oval as captain Vane Tangimetua (92 runs) piled on the runs and the pressure posting a total of 333. Matavera‘s run chase started well, however once Koria Patia (30 runs) departed it was a never ending procession of outgoing batters as Matavera fell short 204 runs.

In the The Computer Man bottom six ANZ Avatiu Nikao continuedto dominate, collecting a massive win over the All-Stars side. Batting first Avatiu got to 329 runs through Tom Wicks (102) and Cameron Thorpe (76).

Avana’s run chase couldn’t match skipper Shane Thompson’s bowling as he collected a five wicket bag to have Avana all out for 87. Takuvaine who have made a late charge this season felt the full force of Titikaveka Titans as they were bowled out for 56 runs chasing the Titans impressive 202.
