Having been given a kick-start into healthy living, the Mongoose golden oldies are tonight continuing their focus on health.
The group is meeting tonight at 5pm at Rose’s Garden for the fitness session, with plans to head to the cemetery and back before beginning a circuit training session at the field.
Mongoose club chairman George George said the day was open to all golden oldies, club members or not. He also said that people of all fitness levels were welcome to join the afternoon.
“You can walk, run, jog or crawl,” he joked, “and when we get back we’ll do a circuit training at the field using different exercises that will use every muscle on your body.”
George said the club knew there were far too many golden oldies out there that were doing very little or nothing at all to stay healthy and he hoped to see some new faces at the field tonight.
“You can join Mongoose, but at these sessions you’re not paying to train, you’re training to stay fit and active,” he said.
Last month, the Mongoose crew joined a men’s health night to learn about the challenges that they would face as they aged.
George said the night gave them some new inspiration to stay fit and extend their training to take in more than golden oldies and masters touch rugby.
The Mongoose club aims to train every Tuesday afternoon from 5pm.
