The best of Cook Islands cricket was celebrated on Friday night as the cricketing fraternity took a look at its achievements on and off the field for season 2010-11.
Glenn (Hori) Miller was named as the Cook Islands international player of the year and went home with a swag of medals and trophies for his efforts in the season.
In all, Miller was named as the supreme international player of the year, the international all rounder of the year and the wicket keeper for the year in both the Computer Man mens competition and the Turtles D league competition.
He was also awarded for his services to Cook Islands Cricket off the field.
Toala Teinaki was named the top batter and bowler in the D league competition and earned the international batter of the year award for the international squad.
Bene Matapo swept up a number of awards in the junior and womens sections of the awards, the recognition coming for her bowling and batting in various competitions through the season.
She was also named the supreme junior player of the year for 2010-11.
The Cook Islands Cricket Association welcomed two new life-members to its fold in stalwarts Tereapii Matapo and Ollie Syme.
Both men have put in decades of work with Cook Islands cricket and encouraged everyone to help develop the sport into the future.
Syme said he still had a love for the sport after 20 years, his message a simple one: cricket is a sport for all.
It doesnt matter if youre short, fat, thin or tall, crickets for all, he said.
