The master’s athletes will continue with their regular track and field meetings at the BCI Stadium tomorrow afternoon from 5pm.
After all the road racing and the Round Raro Road Race finished and with the Cook Islands masters champs at the end of the month (October23-26) its time the masters got back to the track and field events.
Wednesday will also be the opportunity for new comers to come and “have a go” and see how far they can throw or jump or how fast they can run.
Initial planning is underway for the next Oceania Champs which are to be held in Tauranga, NZ in February 2012 and the Cook Islands team is keen to improve on the medal haul they achieved at the 2010 Champs which were held in Tahiti in July.
So any athlete (aged 35 plus) who is interested in participating either here on a regular basis or joining in with the group who are planning to attend the next championships in early 2012 should come to the BCI stadium on Wednesday.
The proposed programme of events for Wednesday is: 5pm shot put, 5.20pm long jump, 5.30pm javelin, 5.50pm 100m, 6.00pm 1500m.
