Hash House Harriers welcomed around 70 extra people to their Monday night run – their fancy dress 30th birthday run.

The Harriers laid on a barbecue for athletes who are visiting to take part in the Round Rarotonga Road Race (RRRR).

At the event Len ‘Polyononamous’ Edwards of the Hash handed over a cheque for $608 to Te Vaerua physiotherapist Rebecca Washbourn.

Hash House Harriers volunteered to donate $2 for every kilometre run by any Hash member. The $608 dollar donation means that between them Hash runners covered 304km.

“I’m overwhelmed by the support given by the hashers to Te Vaerua,” said Washbourn. “It’s great to see that the rehabilitation service is so valued by the community.”

Monday’s Hash run is part of a week of events which includes last night’s Round the Rock Relay and today’s Nutters Run, which takes runners on a 9km course up and over the cross island track.
