Sole female lifter Luisa Peters knows she has what it takes to win medals in weightlifting but it wasnt meant to be at the Pacific Games lifting competition in Noumea.

The 18-year-old lifted 75kg, 78kg and 80kg in the snatch 4kg better than her personal best snatch of 76kg.

In the clean and jerk division Peters lifted 92kg in her second lift and dropped her first attempt of 95kg.

The disappointed youngster had to lift 95kg again and the second time Peters showed guts and determination to successfully clean the lift 1kg less than her current personal best of 96kg.

She lifted a total of 175kg.

Im disappointed because I know I can do better, said Peters.

I came here to do what I trained for but I didnt hit my target it didnt happen but I have my eyes on the next competition in Samoa.

The Oceania Championships in Samoa to be held in May is a qualifying event for the London Olympics its also Peters next lifting target.
