Rarotonga primary school students have been having barrels of fun with the ANZ tennis in schools programme delivered by national coach Malcolm Kajer.

As some schools on the island don’t have tennis courts – Kajer has had to get creative to give kids the opportunity to try out tennis.

He’s used motorbikes, soccer goals and even classroom veranda posts to rig up his nets and give kids a taste of the sport.

But all the tennis action today will be at the Nikao Tennis Centre where the under 8 mini competition and the under 10 ANZ All Stars competition will start at 10am.

The Tennis Cook Islands club competition is also on today at the Nikao courts with games due to start at 1pm.

Kajer will continue to deliver the ANZ tennis in schools programme.
