Longer distance covered

Last week’s road series again saw more great competition and times, as most of the dozen athletes took on a bigger distance.

The finishing orders seem predictable, but they are not earned lightly, with positions being neck and neck until the last km.

Special thanks go to Holly and Matai, for handing out the much needed water at the half way mark.

The athletes appreciated it very much.

This Thursday, 5.15pm, outside the Kafe Kokonati, Matavera, will be the same distances on offer again.

It will be the last big run before Athletics Cook Islands official half marathon, to be held on Saturday morning, September 4.

Full results – men (10km), Roland Neururer 39:59, Scott Howley 40:33, Brian Toncray 43:01, Hamish Weir 48:00, Rory Quirke 51:05, Chris Mcgeown 51:27, (8km) Gregg Young 42:06, women (10km) Rebecca Washbourn 1:01:40, Pare Tangata 1:02:10, (5km) Peta Ngari 54:00, Kristin Pietack 31:23, (8km) Becky Robinson 29:32.
