Knockout results controversial

Controversy surrounds results from the weekends rugby league knockout competition.

The Titikaveka Bulldogs club are crying foul over the time change for their clubs 2nd ranked reserve grade game against the Bears on Saturday and a number of teams have filed complaints over unregistered players taking to the field.

The Bulldogs reserve grade was the only team that didnt turn up for their game on Saturday after a last minute change to their game time.

The team and the beliefs of its 9 Seventh Day Adventists players were initially considered by the referees association and the time for their game was amended so they could play.

However late Friday night a last minute game time change was made by the association which did not fit in with the religious beliefs of the Bulldogs.

This resulted in the team registered as losing by default to the Arorangi Bears who took to the field and amused the crowd with some fun antics on the field before the game was officially called off.

Despite the issues remaining games were played and this weekend teams that won in the 3rd and 4th place playoff will play the losers of Saturdays 1st and 2nd place playoff and the winners of these games will head to the grand finals. Matariki Wilson
