Kids showcase court skills

Last Saturday saw newcomers to tennis showcase impressive skills in the ANZ Stars competition at the tennis centre in Nikao.

After a day of action on the courts, Kaveariki Nia was crowned the top player of the day followed by Tessa Worthington, Brook Kurariki, Sienna McKinley, Arieta Pokini, Reanna Aviu, Nicholas Hay and Brooke Sutherland rounding out the top 8 players.

Meanwhile a squad of 7 has been finalised to represent the Cook Islands at the Pacific Oceania Junior tournament starting on August 8.

The squad members are Kiana Sword-Tua and Andrew Turepu in the under 12 division, Roland Neururer, Jake Bergman and Tamarua Payne in the under 15, Lillian Maui and Frederick Pickering in the under 18 division.

This Saturday the junior squad will be training and the ANZ tournament for 10 to 17-year-old players will be held starting at 9am.
