Primary schools and community groups around the island are now in full swing with the soccer Just Play Programme.

This is week 5 of the 6-week pilot programme with participation numbers increasing, facilitators becoming more confident in their delivery and the children having lots of fun.

Project manager Michelle Paiti says she has been very impressed by a number of schools that have shown total commitment and support for the programme.

They have every class involved in Just Play activities during at least one of their PE lessons each week, which is great to see, says Paiti.

The Just Play programme focuses on participation and fun with the activities very adaptable to suit the different ages as well as small or large numbers.

The equipment and resources provided through this programme have had a positive impact for the children and teachers involved.

Community groups are enjoying their involvement also with the first Just Play by Night held under flood lights recently as part of evening activities by the SDA youth.

Scout leaders also scheduled Just Play activities during their recent Scout camp.

Just Play is due to complete its 6-week pilot phase programme in mid May.

Cook Islands Football would like to acknowledge the Australian Government (AusAID) and Oceania Football for funding this grassroots programme.
