If conditions today are as brutal as Saturday – expect to see some outstanding paddling in the V6 Iron races.
It will be all about teamwork today and based on Saturday’s V1 and OC1 results – the international Australian Crown Beach Kings is the team to watch.
The international Boiler Boys crew are also expected to lead the pack while the Big Hawaiian Girls are expected to dominate in the women’s division.
Racing will get underway at 7.30am with the master men, senior master men and under 19 men’s crew to tackle the 12km course from Avarua harbour to Matavera point and back.
The open men V6 18km race to Avana and back will start at 9am followed by the open women’s 18km race at 11am.
Master women and under 19 women’s crew will race their 12km course at 1.30pm followed by the final race of the day in the master and open mixed V6 division.
Presentations for these events will be held after the races.
Paddlers and supporters are all welcome to the preview evening of the Oe Vaka art exhibition at the Art Studio in Arorangi starting at 6.30pm. - MW
