Intense final round

Today is the last round of the Turtles Domestic League II cricket competition before next week’s final and it’s shaping up to be an exciting day.

With Puaikura-Titikaveka at the top with 2 wins, and Te-Au-O-Tonga and Ngatangiia-Matavera both on 1 win each there is a lot on the line heading into today’s final rounds.

The first match of the day sees Matt Beasley’s Ngatangiia-Matavera looking for a big win over second place Te-Au-O-Tonga.

Should Ngatangiia-Matavera lose then that will be the end of their campaign, so some intense action is sure to be seen.

Keep a close eye on pace bowler Alan Syme today as he returns from off shore to join his Ngatangiia-Matavera team mates.

A noticeable absence from today’s line up will be Te-Au-O-Tonga’s strike bowler Seb Maher who is in NZ for schooling, so Patiiamai Ataela will look to the remainder of the team to lift the intensity against Puaikura-Titikaveka in their second match scheduled at 2pm.

Watch out for Ataela and Toala Teinaki with the bat as they will look to partner and provide some entertaining boundaries and quick running between the wickets.

Brimming with confidence after last week’s 2 from 2 performance – Puaikura-Titikaveka will look to cement their place in the final with a good win over the hosts.

Watch for Ben Sexton, Rob Samuel and Aitutaki junior sensation Daniel Tutai to spearhead a fast and furious bowling attack while Pare Rongokea and Tereapii Mamanu are capable of providing some entertaining viewing with clean crisp hitting.

So head to the BCI Stadium today from 9am and support your team as they do battle on the pitch.
