The BCI Stadium in Nikao was abuzz with activity on Friday as Tereora College students took the day off from classroom work to showcase their track and field talents on what was a humid and sweaty day.

Once assembled in their team houses and three categories of junior, intermediate and senior athletes the students threw, jumped and ran their way to points for their respective houses.

National athletes including commonwealth sprinter Patricia Taea and Aitutaki talent Daniel Tutai were of course stand out for their houses along with up and coming sporting star Teiti Tupapa who won all her events in the junior girls division.

Ruiruia David was another stand out athlete winning all three of the senior boys jumping events.

Each successful athlete earned points for their house and in the end house three athletes ran the fastest, jumped and threw the furthest to earn their team the title of champions of the track and field in the annual Tereora College athletics day event.

Meitaki to college art teacher Jason Green for the photos of the action packed day.
