High scoring games are becoming the norm of the inaugural Vonnia’s Corporate mixed 6 on 6 volleyball league played every Friday at the Telecom Sports Arena.

Last Friday saw round two games played where Vonnia’s Vikings registered the rounds highest score with 111 points against Te Aponga Sparkz who despite spikes raining on them, competed valiantly and with good humour.

Team Turtles Diggz was the next highest scoring team with 110 points against Westpac No Pacz who scored 67 points.

But the game of the day was between first round top scorers CITC Smackdown and Te Vara Nui with the CITC team edging out Te Vara Nui 81-72.

In fact, the win by Turtles Diggz propelled them into first place on the leaders table closely followed by first round leaders CITC Smackdown and Vonnias Viking in third place.

And although just two rounds of games have been played – teams are quickly improving their game making for tighter and tougher matches.

Tomorrow is round three of the league with the first three games serving off at 5pm followed by three more games every hour until the last game at 8pm.

Games have been running smoothly in the league thanks to some great refereeing and unlike other codes – not a single complaint has been registered about game officials to organisers.

With three games running at the same time – spectators are guaranteed to get an eyeful of action on the Telecom Sports Arena court.

Food and drinks are also on sale from the volleyball store so there’s plenty of reasons to make the TSA your first stop on your Friday night out.

The draw for tomorrow’s round three games will be published in Cook Islands News sports pages on Friday.
