The past week has been a busy and demanding week for Olympic sailor Helema Williams, her training partner Taua Elisa Henry and coach Ben Paton.
With the Olympic event only 29 days away, the carefully constructed training programme preparing her for the big event is progressing well with this last week being the hard out physical sessions.
Williams is really enjoying the sessions and definitely rising to the Olympic challenge of – harder, faster, further!
Williams is also dealing with extreme cold weather meaning even her English coach Paton has to join her in getting ‘togged’ up like an Eskimo.
The squad is dedicated to producing the best quality that they can for Williams.
She and Paton will enter the Olympic Sailing Village on July 17, with sailing manager Anne Tierney, and earlier the same day they will pick up the laser radial which Williams will use for the competition.
Williams is really looking forward to competing at the London Olympic Games and is dedicating herself full heartedly to the training programme doing the right thing with quality – eating, drinking, sleeping and training with fierce focus.
Taua Elisa is due to leave Lymington/Weymouth and return to the Cook Islands mid month and will soon after relocate to Aitutaki where he is eagerly awaited by the sailing families there.
He’s excited about being active in Aitutaki Sailing Club and Sailing Academy activities again.
One of his first activities will be with Alan from the windsurfing school in Lake Pupuke, where the sport of windsurfing will be introduced to the young people of Aitutaki between August 1 and 6.
