Telecom Cook Islands national cricketers Hori Miller and Toara Teinaki are to attend an invitation only International Cricket Excellence Camp in November.
Telecom national captain Miller who plays his cricket out of the Titikaveka club and Teinaki from Tupapa have been rewarded for recent international performances and their pro-activeness in assisting the development of cricket on Rarotonga.
The boys will make the trip to Brisbane, Australia, where they will receive expert technical coaching, game strategy education and compete under some of the worlds most renowned international coaches and past players.
While there, they will have the opportunity to impress ICC selectors with their unique improvised Cookie style of cricket in order to gain selection to an ICC team competing in the Australian Country Cricket Championships league in January.
While not the first Cook Islanders to attend the camp, they are the first local based players to achieve the honour, something the Cook Islands Cricket association is excited about.
We have a strong emphasis on developing local talent with an eye to the future, so to have two exceptionally talented cricketers who will receive tremendous personal benefit from this opportunity and also have a track record of sharing their skills with the wider cricketing community made the national selections panels endorsement of the two players an easy decision, said Cook Islands Crickets Alister Stevic.
Stevic expected that the recent increase in international opportunities would provide all local players with the additional motivation to turn out consistent quality performances during the Computer Man mens and Edgewater Resort and Spa womens competitions.
