Saturday morning half marathon runners have started this week with big congratulations to the organisers and helpful volunteers that worked together to make the run a success.

The half marathon was held from the Tikioki Tri site where 20 keen runners lined up for the 7 o’clock start.

In the end, visitor Gary MacIlwee took out the event ahead of Scotty Howley and Roland Neururer.

First women home was experienced runner Vanessa Palmer who crossed the line 5th equal with partner Rhys Woodger.

A number of athletes also tacked a shorter 11.1km course instead of the 21.1 half marathon course with some great results posted.
