Australian jokes and gags were the order of the day when the local Hash House Harriers running group celebrated Australia Day at their weekly meet on Monday.
Australia Day is actually on January 26 but Hashers dressed in their best Aussie green and gold outfits including big bright wigs for the early celebrations.
But some cheeky Kiwis just couldn’t bring themselves to wear anything other than bold black for the Aussie get together.
And the Kiwis even went as far as reminding the Aussies of their national cricket team’s poor performance at last month’s Ashes Cricket test – losing their first ever Ashes test in Australia in 26 years.
The good natured banter between the Kiwis and Aussies continued on the walk through Arorangi and right through the traditional Aussie barbeque after the walk.
But the Aussies don’t have to wait long to get their own back on the Kiwis as a black out run will be organised to celebrate Waitangi Day which falls on February 6.
