Kick start the rugby union season with a level 1 IRB “rugby ready” certificate.

As part ofthe rugby union development on the island, a two-day rugby ready certificate programme will be run on April 16 and 23 for all interested especially teachers and junior coaches at the club level.

New coaching rules will come into effect next season where only those with level 1 IRB rugby ready certificates will be able to coach teams and those wanting to coach under 19 and senior teams must have the level 2 IRB coaching certificate.

Cook Islands Rugby Union president Chris McKinley says running the courses means ticking all the boxes for the IRB and importantly upskilling local coaches to effectively coach rugby at the grassroots level.

Parents, both mum and dad, teachers, rugby players young and old and the general public at large interested in earning their level 1 IRB rugby ready certificate are encouraged to register before the closing day on Friday April 13.
