The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat has created a Facebook page for real-time news updates and multimedia coverage of next week’s political gathering.
Forum media officers report that the Cook Islands government has asked them to build a social media presence for the Forum.
A Facebook account was created accordingly on August 19.
It features information for visitors, like coordinator Jaewynn McKay’s email and links to websites for Cook Islands Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration and the Office of the Prime Minister. It also contains video footage of last year’s Forum, photos of the Cook Islands and quotes attributed to Prime Minister Henry Puna.
Research assistant Tavai Bale is responsible for updating the Facebook page, which can be accessed at www.facebook.com/43rdPacificIslandsForumLeadersMeeting.
Cook Islands News and Pacific Scoop are also providing regular online coverage of the Forum.
