These are the words of first-time Fijian mother and mother of triplets Losana Vomani.
Vomani gave birth to the triplets on May 21 last year and says the support from her family, and even church members have been overwhelming.
Vomani says a strong family unit is all she has to raise her daughters.
Rachel, Jemima and Melina Vomani turned one on Wednesday, and have been the ray of sunshine for their 31-year-old mother.
Vomani, a Fiji National University student, said she was always thankful her “miracle babies” were active and healthy considering they were delivered through a caesarean operation seven months into her pregnancy.
Vomani got the surprise of her life when told by medical officers at the CWM Hospital that she had produced three beautiful girls.
“I was expecting twins because I was told by the doctors that they could see two babies during the scans,” Vomani said. “But when they told me that I had triplets, I was shocked.”
At birth baby Rachel weighed 2kg, Jemima 1.9kg and Melina just 1.1kg – so just seeing them waking up every morning is a daily miracle for their mother.
“A lot of people still don’t believe that I have three girls and will ask me all sorts of weird questions,” she said with a laugh. “Even when we were at the hospital, other mothers who were there would come up to my bed and would just stand around the cot looking at the babies.
“Just watching my miracles growing up is just pretty emotional for me.”
Vomani said every now and then she would sit and compare pictures of the triplets when they were born, and seeing them grow into healthy and strong babies would cause her to shed a tear or two.
“The girls have been my source of strength,” she said.
Vomani the youngest of four siblings said she continues to thank her extended family members, her mother, siblings and members of the St John Baptist area for their overwhelming support.
