The final round of the Palm Grove golf tournament will be played on Saturday at the Rarotonga Golf Club and there are close contests after the first two rounds in most divisions.

There was some good golf played in the second round last Saturday and some players may have made their move too early but only time will tell.

Tuwunga Mataora had a great round in the bogey sweep competition for the day, carding a 75 off the stick for a score of +8.

He was followed closely by Tingika Elikana, Lynn Webb, Frank Berg and Apai Paitai all on +7.

Ake Tereia, Mena Howard, and Vengi Hagai all finished with +6 and Paara Pitomaki and Royle Brogan rounded out the top ten for the day with +5 each.

There were four others on +5 who lost on a count-back.

Leaders in the Palm Grove tournament in the different divisions going into the final round today are: senior men - Royle Brogan (141) from Daniel Webb and Ngatupuna Manuela both on 145, senior ladies - Mena Howard (157) from Maara Kenning (163) and Tuaine Marsters (163), intermediate men - Pokoina Matara (156) from Yitiri Akama (157), intermediate ladies - Ake Tereia (170), Tereapii Urlich (172), junior men - Tuwunga Mataora (156) from John Teiti (158), junior ladies - Here Story (182), Bernie Raffe (191), and vets - Tom J Marsters (156) and Riiti Mamanu (157)

The top four players in each division are seeded and will play in the afternoon.

So, if you are one of these lucky few, check your tee-off time.

There is a big field playing on the day so please be on time for your tee-off.

Remember, you should be at the tee, ready to play, at least five minutes before your time.

On Tuesday, at 5.45pm, near the vets 6th tee, there will be an unveiling of the plaque for our friend Tia Barrett. Members are asked to bring a plate for a small kaikai afterwards.

Good luck to all golfers.
