At the Turangi Oval, Matavera were looking to open their account against arch rivals Turangi.
Batting first, Matavera looked to pile on the runs and were helped by some wayward bowling from the hosts.
When bat was put to ball, Amelia Moetaua made the most of it with a top scoring innings of 41, including 6 boundaries.
Grace Rea of Turangi was the pick of the Turangi bowlers with 3 wickets for 26 runs off her 4 overs.
Chasing 115 for the win, Turangi lost early wickets with Moetaua performing with the ball and taking the key wicket of Daena Kataina.
Matavera captain Benedicta Matapo also bowled with precision taking 3 wickets for 26 runs and giving Matavera a close 7 run victory.
Out west, the Arorangi Red Hot Chicks hosted the girls from Muri at Raemaru Park.
Red Hot Chicks captain Marguerite Dean definitely put on the heat with the ball, taking 4 Muri scalps for just 19 runs off her 4 overs, and Sabine Janneck taking 3 fantastic wickets in 1 over to have Muri in all sorts of trouble.
Some big hitting from Annabelle Tuaati (16 runs) gave Muri a respectable 74 runs to defend. In reply, Arorangi welcomed back new mums Leanne Kiria and Moeroa Matheson who wasted no time with the bat, hitting the ball to all parts of the field for a quick fire 27 run partnership.
Steady bowling from the Muri girls kept them in the game with Luciana Matenga taking 3 wickets for 10 runs.
The match decided with the second to last ball, with Moe Rata hitting the winning runs and giving the Red Hot Chicks the victory.
