Eels and Sea Eagles tied at the top

Week 8 of the rugby league season kicks off today with the Bulldogs under 19 and reserve grade hosting the Takuvaine Warriors.

Under 19 players from the two clubs will clash at 4pm and at 5pm the reserve grade will take to the field.

Remaining Bulldogs and Warriors games will be played out on Friday.

On Saturday the Avatiu Eels will host the Arorangi Bears at the Avatiu Swamp while the Ngatangiia Sea Eagles take on the Tupapa Panthers at Nukupure Park and the Aitutaki Sharks take a break.

Overall on the points table – the Avatiu Eels and Ngatangiia Sea Eagles are tied at the top with 10 points each.

The Bears are in third on 8 points and the Panthers have 6.

On 3 points each are the Bulldogs and Aitutaki Sharks while the Takuvaine Warriors are at the bottom of the table with 2 points.

In the reserves grade – the Bears lead with 14 points followed by the Bulldogs on 9, Panthers on 8 while the Panthers and Eels share 4 points each and the Warriors are still looking for points.

The Bears dominate in the under 19 division winning all 7 of their encounters so far this season for a total of 12 points with the Eels in close second on 10 points.

Tupapa Panthers are sitting in third with 8 points and the Warriors and Sea Eagles share 6 points each while the Bulldogs are still to earn a point.

In the under 16 grade the Tupapa Panthers are in a league of their own on 14 points with the Bears in second on 11 points.

The Eels are in third with 8 points – a point ahead of the Warriors while the Sea Eagles have 2 and the Bulldogs have just 1 point in the grade.

The Baby Bears and Panthers share the top of the table in the under 13 grade with 8 points and the Eels and Sea Eagles have 2 points.
