Currently the system is a tropical low developing north of Australia and its expected to move into PNG’s coastal areas over the weekend.
The low could lead to strong gale force winds and high seas with the potential to produce heavy rainfall in Western, Gulf and Highlands region and Torres Strait Islands.
The National Disaster Office is warning communities to prepare their homes, gardens and families for a possible cyclone and decide on where they can safely shelter.
Meanwhile another tropical low has formed to the northwest of Vanuatu.
The Vanuatu weather office said there is a moderate chance of it becoming a cyclone over the weekend. - PNC
