The second Westpac Bank sponsored cycle race will be held tomorrow starting at 5pm from downtown Avarua outside Raviz restaurant.

It’s a handicapped cycle race to Arorangi and back. The distance is 16km with the turnaround marked outside the Puaikura Aroa Nui.

Fifteen cyclists took part in last week’s race. First across the finish line was Steve Whitta in a time of 31:35 followed by Melanie Wilson then Rob Buick. Fastest time went to Roland Neururer in 26:23, followed by Richard Vinsen, who was just 19 seconds behind.

This week’s event will use last week’s times as the handicap intervals (multiples of 30 seconds) and cyclists who did not ride the first week will be interspaced at what is considered their relative position.

The Triathlon Association is grateful for Westpac’s support for health orientated community events. Anyone on any model of bike is welcome to participate as you will be given a good head start on regular cyclists. Arrive just before 5pm to get to the start line.
