The Cookie Sadaraka cricket challenge trophy has been uplifted and taken back east after a very tight contest between two traditional rivals – Arorangi and Muri.

Batting first Muri were put under pressure early through tight bowling from Tom Vea, Manu Emile and Mitch Farnell. Muri never really managed to get any partnerships going however managed to get through to 96 runs thanks to some fine batting by tail enders Framheim and Pauly.

Muri set about trying to get the strong Arorangi batting line up out and were successful taking regular wickets through tight bowling from Mike Hoff, Rama Taike and Alan Syme. To add to the tight bowling Muri fielded well and created extra chances.

Young Arorangi players Pahina and Tere did well under pressure and scored a few runs to keep Muri anxious however Muri persevered and took the win as Arorangi were all out for 86. Muri’s next challenge is against Matavera next week.
