Close encounters at corporate volleyball

There were a number of close games in the semifinals of the knockout rounds at the Vonnia’s Corporate mixed 6 on 6 volleyball league on Friday.

The game between Vonnia’s Vikings and Airport Jetz was especially close with just one point the difference in the end with Vonnia’s winning 84-83.

Another close encounter was between Te Vara Nui and Turtles Diggz, with both teams trying to secure a spot for the top two in Pool A.

Te Vara Nui managed to sneak in to win and now face CITC Smackdown who managed to beat Stingers in the last few minutes of the game.

In Pool C games Airport High Flyers dominated Manea Foods Boom to take a top two placing coming into the finals and Sparklings managing to secure the second spot against RMD Spikers (1).

Pool B games saw both RMD Spikers (2) and Telecom secure wins to see them playing for first and second placing next week.

On Friday only Telecom went over the 100 point mark.

Pool A: CITC Smackdown 73 vs Stingers 65, Vonnias Vikings 84 vs Airport Jetz 83, Te Vara Nui 68 vs Turtles Diggz 65, Maungaroa Heights 90 vs BCI Be Cool like Ice 78; Pool B: Edgewater Spikes and Tykes 89 vs French Connection 64, Killer B’s 87 vs Manea Foods Jumbo 69, Telecom 109 vs Top Kopz 59, RMD Spikers (2) 75 vs Smashing T 68; Pool C, Sparklings 81 vs RMD Spikers (1) 71; Te Aponga Sparkz 87 vs Turtles Fani Totoys 73,

Pacific Divers Airbourne 79 vs Westpac No Pacz 68, Airport High Flyers 86 vs Manea Foods Boom 65.

The finals of the knockout games will be played this Friday with all the matches to be great games as each and every team battles it out to secure a win.
