Funds were approved last month by international soccer body FIFA for the Cook Islands Football Association to construct a new administration building and gym facilities.
A signing ceremony was held with FIFA’s Glen Turner, CIFA’s president Lee Harmon and local suppliers to seal the deal.
This is CIFA’s fourth ‘goal project’, initiated by FIFA about nine years ago to meet the needs of national football associations across the globe.
The current goal project is the construction of the two storey building.
The top floor will be CIFA’s new administration headquarters and includes office space for staff and a board room.
The ground floor will house the gym with basic fitness equipment to help meet the physical needs of players.
The ground floor will also feature a merchandise store which will sell CIFA souvenirs and other items.
Harmon thanked FIFA for its support.
“The association is grateful and would like to thank FIFA for granting the funds to construct the new office building and gym”.
