Bringing home the love in Muri

The Ngatangiia-Matavera Sea Eagles rugby league club will host a fundraiser concert tomorrow night to ‘bring home the love’ and raise some essential funds for the club.

Brother Love, Wills from Tika and Sons, Ed from Sweet and Irie, and Rico from Ardijah will perform from 8pm at the Ngatangiia Club House on Saturday.

Tickets cost $10 and will go towards player development and covering the cost of visiting Aitutaki for the Eagles’ away match against the Aitutaki Sharks.

Last weekend, a noisy club procession did a village run through Ngatangiia and Matavera with drums and loudspeakers seeking the village’s support.

This weekend, that effort will be bolstered with the concert takings.

Organisers say that the show is being put on for all the country people that would rather have their entertainment in their backyard, rather than the typical city nightspots.

There will be bar specials throughout the night.

Visitors to the island who happen to be in Muri on Saturday night are welcome to attend, as are the city-dwellers who fancy a trip out to the country.
