The Arorangi Bears were lucky not to be mauled by the Aitutaki Sharks when they visited the island last week for their premier grade league clash.

The Sharks and Bears battled it out at the Vaipae sports field but neither team could get the upper hand with the game ending in a 24-24 draw.

Meanwhile, in Titikaveka, the Bulldogs suffered a massive 22-0 defeat against 2009 champions the Tupapa Panthers.

With the final round of the competition this week – the Bulldogs need a miracle to get into the top four and will face the Arorangi Bears in the final round.

The Avatiu Eels, who along with the Ngatangiia-Matavera Sea Eagles had a break at the weekend, will head to Aitutaki to face the Sharks.

The Eagles will need to bring their A-game this week and prepare to face the in-form Panthers.

Next week will see the catch up games cancelled by the cyclone Pat and the tsunami before the competition heads into the play offs.
