Pool B in today’s CITC Rarotonga Club Sevens sees the Reds, Dragons and Bulls fight it out.

The Reds sevens team will be coached by Travel Tou Jnr and they will look to the experienced Samoan duo of Silafi Tovio and Lua Tua for guidance – both players were involved in the recent CI sevens trials held last week.

Look for strong running Reds winger Levi Tuteru to be part of their offensive plans.

The Dragons are coached by big George ‘Speight’ Fatafai (currently recovering from injury).

They will be a team to watch with young bloods like the Toa boys Daniel and Thomas, supported by try-scoring machine Sailosi Niagi, workhorse William Kauvai, and also watch for the 17-year- old part Aitutakian flyer Juda Mato to feature in this year’s competition.

The Bulls, coached this year by Tavake Manual, are in development-mode. However, look for some exciting Fijian-influence via live-wire utility back Eli Bendini and tough forward Lemeki Matapo complemented by speed merchant Ben Sexton and skilled halves Teariki Tou and John Rea.

Apart from the $3000 prize pool, which will be distributed among the teams at the end of competition, there will also be individual awards for: player of the tournament, top try scorer and top points scorer.

In the women’s division the ladies will continue to play the City v Country matches in preparation for the Borneo sevens tournament to be held on October 29 to 31. The Cooks Islands will be sending a national team to this tournament.

Look to see a much-improved set of matches as the ladies have been ‘training the house down’ for the past few weeks.

See you all today at the Avatiu Field with the first game starting at 2.30pm.
