Avatiu Eels top rugby standings

The Avatiu Eels Senior A grade are the current leaders in the CITC club rugby season after winning all five of their encounters so far this season.

The Eels are on 17 points closely followed by the Arorangi Cowboys on 16 points.

The Titikaveka Bulls are lurking in third place with 14 points while the Ngatangiia Dragons, who are in fourth place, will want to perform well against the Cowboys this week to rise back to the top.

Takuvaine Reds are in fifth spot while the Tupapa Panthers are still looking for a win and are bringing up the rear of the competition.

In the Senior B division, the Cowboys are leading on the points table with 15 points followed by the Eels (13), Bulls (11), Reds (9), Dragons (7) and the Panthers on three points.

The under 19 Panthers squad are the clubs pride at the moment as they lead the under 19 competition with 12 points followed by the Eels (10), Reds (8), Bulls (6) and the Dragons on 2 points.

In the under 16 grade – the Eels lead on 15 points, Cowboys (13), Panthers (9), Dragons (9), Bulls (7) and the Reds on 6 points.

The Panthers dominate in the junior under 13 grade with the baby Panthers leading comfortably at this stage on 15 points, Cowboys (11), Dragons (11), Bulls (9), Eels (7) and the Reds on 7 points.

This week’s games will be played at Takuvaine between hosts the Reds and the Titikaveka Bulls and the Senior A clash between these two clubs on Saturday will be the match of the week.

At Tupapa the Panthers and Eels will clash while the Dragons will travel to Arorangi to meet with the Cowboys.

In the meantime the under 13 and senior B grade matches between the Bulls and Reds will be played today at 4.15pm and 5pm.
