Three weeks out and the island’s most prepared women’s cricket team is excited about the season.

Arorangi women’s cricket team manager Sabine Janneck says that the Arorangi women’s team have been training intensively for the past two months.

Janneck is also thrilled with the increase in new players to the team, especially the young players who will no doubt add plenty of energy to the wild westies.

”We have a great mix of players from youngsters, national players and experienced senior players – they all bring great excitement to the team,“ says Janneck.

The team has received great support from sponsors and families who have provided cricket balls, uniforms and equipment.

Arorangi will be hoping they hit the season running as they host top side Turangi in their first game of the season on September 8.

Janneck adds that the club’s coaches welcome any newcomers interested in learning how to play. Contact her on 55238 or just rock on down to the Arorangi cricket nets at Raemaru Park where the team will be training most afternoons.
