Another mini tourney

The ANZ mini tennis stars tournament will continue this Saturday at the national tennis centre in Nikao.

Last weekend mini tennis players aged 7 and 8 were the centre of attention when they took to the courts for their mini tournament.

Fourteen competitors battled it out with Joshua Williams the eventual winner after an exciting finals match against equally talented opponent Robert Healey.

The second tournament of the weekend was the elite junior competition which saw the country’s leading junior tennis player Ngara Nicholas rise once again to the top. Nicholas defeated Fredrick Pickering in the finals.

Both the ANZ mini tennis stars and elite junior tennis tournaments will be run again this Saturday with the mini tennis players on the courts first at 10am.

This weekend the tournament will be for kids aged between 10 and 12.

The elite junior tennis tournament will start at 1pm.

The competition is free to anyone, and parents are encouraged to take kids along to join this fun and educational tournament.
