The reviews are in and according to her fans, Adele’s show in Auckland on Thursday night (New Zealand time) was the “best concert” ever.

The British star “sang her heart out” according to one of 40,000 fans at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium.

During the sold-out show the London-born singer made an emotional tribute to the victims of the Westminster terror attack.

It was very strange not being home, she told the crowd .

Dedicating her song Make You Feel My Love to the victims, she said: “All I want to do today is be at home with my friends and family. All of them are fine but there are four people who aren’t fine so let’s dedicate this to them tonight.”

The first couple of moments after Adele appeared on stage was like “Beatlemania”, reviewer Marty Duda told RNZ’s Morning Report.

“People were screaming and the adrenaline was flowing. Then she goes into Hello, which is arguably her best song – it was just thrilling at that point,” he said.

“No matter how you felt about Adele’s music you just couldn’t help getting caught up in the excitement,” he said.

For some, the concert fulfilled a “lifelong dream” of seeing the star performing live. “I’m going to cry now even talking about it,” one fan said.

“Hands down, best concert I’ve ever been to,” said another New Zealand fan.

Some came from further afield, including one man who travelled from Hawai‘i for the concert.

“It was everything I expected and more,” he said. “She was great. Her voice is just like the same on her track from the radio to live. Loved it. I can go back to Hawai‘i very happy.”

Adele, whose recent hit Hello climbed music charts around the world, has another concert tonight and the last on Sunday night. More than 130,000 people have tickets for the three concerts which sold out in less than half an hour in November.
