Before the big boys and girls tear up the BCI Stadium during the International Sevens at the end of the week rising primary school stars will have their opportunity to shine under the spotlight at todays Cook Islands News mixed rippa rugby tournament.
Six teams made up of boys and girls have signed up for todays tournament which is expected to feature some high level rippa skills from twirling runs to some spinning action.
For the Cook Islands Rugby Union todays tournament showcases the development pathways available for all involved in rugby from players, coaches, managers, administrators, referees and medical personnel that will continually build capacity and assist in strengthening rugby in the Cook Islands.
The teams taking part in todays tournament are Nukutere College, Nikao Maori School, Avarua School, Arorangi School, Avatea School and Titikaveka College.
Games kick off at 2pm and parents are encouraged to get along to the BCI Stadium and support the kids.
The tournament, all going to plan, will wrap up at around 4pm where the final two games will be played.
