Wednesday 8: Cook Islands Games oe vaka, sailing and athletics competitions will begin today – making it six codes in competition today.

Golf and lawn bowls continue their games and basketballers will be playing out their finals at the National Auditorium.

The oe vaka competition will be held from the Avarua harbour with races starting at 4.45pm.

Five teams are expected to compete in the oe vaka competition from the islands of Aitutaki and Manihiki plus Vaka Takitumu, Puaikura and Te Au O Tonga.

The race categories will be OC1 and a mixed V6.

The sailing competition will get underway in Muri, sailors racing in the standard rig, radial and 4.7 Laser classes.

Sailing will begin at 8am and will continue on Thursday and end on Saturday April 11.

The athletics competition will be held at the Titikaveka College field next to the Kent Hall with the event scheduled to start at 4pm.

The Cook Islands Games basketball tournament will head into the finals of their competition this evening where fast and action packed games are expected.

Scheduled for Thursday night is the Cook Islands Games boxing competition.- MW
