Around 20 mixed crews will race around Rarotonga today in hot pursuit of the Bob Worthington trophy.
Judging by their performance this week, the Crown Beach mixed crew an amalgamation of yesterdays winning mens crew Crown Beach Kings and winning womens crew Crown Beach Belles have a good shot at the top spot.
Two other Australian crews Rogz for Dogz of Mollymook and Patterson Lakes of Patterson Lakes Outrigger Canoe Club will compete in todays mixed Round Raro.
Theyre up against seven New Zealand mixed crews Te Puu Ao Tuturu of Te Puu Ao, Horouta, Waitakere Outrigger Canoe Club, Waka Waka of Waikato Dragon Boat and Waka Ama, Te Karere of Porirua, Aotearoa Natives and Manuz, Jemimaz & Tedz.
In the masters division, five Australian crews Inland Outrigger Canoe Club, KOs of Waka Down Under, Hekili Mixed Masters of Hekilo Port Douglas, Te Ika Nui and Maroro/Confutec of Port Macquarie & Te Arawa will race around the island after them. Theyre up against three New Zealand mixed masters crews Waitakere Outrigger Canoe Club, Parihaka Sports Club Inc and Team Pure of Tamaki Outrigger Canoe Club.
The Canadians are also putting in a mixed crew.
They are racing the 31km around Rarotonga for the honour of holding the Bob Worthington Memorial trophy which last year went to a crew comprised of two of the Worthington boys and Hawaiian teammates.
